This is a unique way to practice adding and subtracting. There's a total of 90 cards in this pack including 18 'switch' cards, the cards with arrows on them. The rest of the cards range from 3 to 25.

6 cards are dealt to each player. Take the remaining cards and turn over the top card. Play starts on this value.

Calculation always starts in the positive direction, adding. The first player places their card in the middle quickly. The first person to call out what the NEW value is wins a point.

If a switch card is placed then the calculation changes to negative.

For example, if the first card played is a 10, then the next card is a 3, then the answer is 13. If the next card played is a switch card, then the next card is a 5, the answer is now 8.

The winner is the player who has collected the most cards at the end of the game.

This game can be used to explore both negative and positive numbers, however if you only wish to focus on positive numbers, then simply stop your sequences at 0, or pre-select a larger starting card.

An alternative way to play is to place 6 to 10 cards down in a sequence. For example, 10, 3, switch, 10, switch, 25. Give a starting value, for example 0. Then the first person to work out the final answer wins a point. The solution in the example would be 28.
