Fraction Web is a colourful, fun game for recognising and adding fractions.
The game is easily playable with plastic counters/pieces and a typical six-sided dice. However, we have also included in this pack a printable 10-sided spinner and player counters/pieces just in case you need them. We recommend printing these on strong card, and laminating them for extra protection and longevity. A normal pencil can be used in the spinner to make it spin.
We have included a game board that is just written fractions, one that features images of fractions, and a mixed board with both written and images of fractions.
There are a variety of ways you can play this game;
Variation 1 (Easy): Players go round the board adding the fractions as they land on them. These get progressively more difficult the more moves a player has, so for an easier game play with a 12 sided dice. The final score will be a top heavy fraction. Encourage students to turn this into a mixed fraction to compare scores.
Variation 2 (Medium): At each turn players alternate between adding the fractions and subtracting it. Negative numbers are allowed.
Variation 3 (Medium): At each turn players alternate between multiplying and dividing the fractions.
Variation 4 (Hard): Each turn, students can decide whether to add, subtract, multiply or divide their score. However, they have to do each of these operations once every four rounds. for example, if in my first go I chose to add to my score, and in the second go I chose to divide, on my third go I would have no choice, but to either multiple or subtract.
This is also available as part of the Board Game Bundle available here.
